HWEnergy Clinches £4.8m Bio Deal
[background=rgb(0, 128, 1) !important]03/07/2013[/background] The Highland Council is awarding £1.2m a year to biomass specialist HWEnergy for the service, maintenance and repair of 59 bio-energy projects over four years. The contract includes the supply of woodfuel and will see the Fort William-based company fully manage and operate the Highland Council sites. Fuel will be a combination of wood chips and pellets supplied from sustainable Scottish sources and the scheme is expected to result in £900,000 of savings a year, compared with the cost of heating from oil, the council said. Council leader Drew Hendry explained: “We have a responsibility as a major public body and employer to create a greener, healthier future. Having HWEnergy provide a one-stop shop significantly reduces our day-to-day involvement and provides a single point of accountability to ensure the biomass systems deliver the cost and carbon savings.” HWEnergy managing director Bruno Berardelli said: “The award of this contract and the council’s commitment to biomass as a heat source will allow us to take on two new apprentices and one full-time contracts manager to help service the contract, bringing the HWEnergy in-house team to more than 50 with staff based right across Scotland.” Image: HWEnergy is to service and maintain 59 bio-energy projects over four years (HWEnergy) Continue reading
