Nawaz Sharif vows to bolster UAE ties (Wam) / 18 May 2013 Pakistan’s prime minister-elect Nawaz Sharif has said he will work to develop economic cooperation with the UAE by encouraging investments and motivating businessmen in both countries to play a greater role in this respect. Receiving UAE Ambassador Eisa Abdullah Al Basha Al Nuaimi at his residence in Lahore, Sharif thanked UAE leaders for their keenness to strengthen bilateral relations with Pakistan, and for the UAE’s continuous support to the Pakistani people. UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Eisa Abdullah Al Basha Al Nuaimi conveying the greetings of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; to Nawaz Sharif, president of the Pakistan Muslim League-N, on winning the recent parliamentary elections. Al Nuaimi referred to the key role played by the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in establishing cordial relations between the two peoples, a legacy followed by Shaikh Khalifa and Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid in further strengthening bilateral cooperation. The envoy said the UAE is one of Pakistan’s biggest investors, referring to UAE companies involved in developmental and infrastructural projects in Pakistan, such as oil refinery, telecommunications, banking, real estate, aviation, agriculture, food, mining, health, social care and others. The ambassador said the UAE Assistance Programme for Pakistan has implemented a number of projects in the north-western areas of Pakistan.
