Mohammed crosses Twitter milestone Muaz Shabandri (muaz@khaleejtimes.com) / 14 August 2013 His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, took his popularity to new heights on Tuesday as he crossed two million followers on Twitter. Expressing happiness over the milestone, Shaikh Mohammed tweeted, “My twitter page followers reached 2 millions today, thanks to your continuous support.” Most of his new initiatives are first announced on Twitter. His latest humanitarian campaign to clothe one million needy children was known to the world through the site. He regularly makes important announcements and posts pictures of important meetings on the micro-blogging site. Currently the most popular Twitter user in the UAE, Shaikh Mohammed was also ranked among the world’s top 10 leaders on Twitter recently. He was placed alongside Barack Obama, Hugo Chavez and Queen Rania among other influential leaders. Tweeting under the Twitter handle @HHShkMohd, he expressed his gratitude saying, “To all our followers, you’ve been the core value by suggesting ideas, responding to initiatives and participating in many discussions. And You were behind the success of many social and humanitarian campaigns we launched on twitter.” Shaikh Mohammed has become a reliable world newsmaker using his tweets to reach out to people. His page on Twitter serves as a platform for his leadership, philosophy, vision and a channel of communication with his fans and followers across the globe. According to Klout, a tool to measure Twitter influence, Shaikh Mohammed’s account scores a rating of 78 on a scale of 100. He is amongst the top five per cent of influences in the world.
