Dh4 billion spent on Sharjah infrastructure Ahmed Shaaban / 5 May 2013 Around Dh4 billion has been specified for the infrastructure projects carried out in 2012, which are to be accomplished in the emirate of Sharjah in 2013. This was announced by member of the Sharjah Executive Council Shaikh Khalid bin Saqr bin Hamad Al Qasimi at the Sharjah Consultative Council on May 2, as part of the second session of the 7 th legislative chapter. A Sharjah Consultative Council meeting discussing the policy of the Department of Public Works. — Supplied photo “These projects span highways, internal roads, bridges, fly-overs, as well as marine schemes.” Shaikh Khalid, who is also Chairman of the Department of Public Works in Sharjah, added that his department is responsible for designing and executing most government projects. “The budget specified for building projects finished in 2012 and to be completed in 2013 hit Dh1.7 billion.” Elaborating, Shaikh Khalid told members of the council that all projects are carried out as per the set timing and international standards. “His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has specified Dh1 billion to develop the roads network in the emirate to boost traffic flow.” He said the King Abdulaziz road is to be connected with the Sharjah Bridge.
